We're back and I know a few folks who are so tickled to include myself since I have talked about this for months.
Since our last post, we have said goodbye to our dear friend Sara (don't worry we will meet again across the pond in a few short weeks), we traveled the great state of Texas and said happy birthday to the USA with Poppy and Granny T and the rest of the Carson crew. Sadly there are no pictures to capture the trip b/c despite our planning we forgot to charge the camera and the iPhone, despite all it's convenience's is never fast enough or near when you need it for pictures. We drove 7.5 hours to get to Poppy's and for 6.5 hours of it the kids cried to see Poppy so imagine it was a long drive. Upon our arrival, we were surprised with Josh and Tiffany at the door along with Colby and Brittyn - what a great surprise in general, but even more so as we unleashed Evan and Chloe from their chairs and they ran bonkers for hours while Deakon and I enjoyed catching up and some vino (well mommy did).
The next day was the 4th of July and I swear Evan asked for fire all day - little pyro!! Granny T. pulled out her thinking hat and made some boats out of styrofoam and the kiddos had a quick "yacht" race in the kiddie pool. They closed that out with a t-ball game and a round of golf. We had to say good bye to Josh and Tiffany at lunch and I think Evan and Chloe melted into puddles of sleep as soon as the car was in reverse. They love to hang with their cousins, but had to sleep off the fun for 3+ hours - bliss!!!
That night Evan cheered on his daddy and tried to learn the rhythm around ooh's and ahh's while Chloe discovered she is not a fan of fire and kabooms; instead she would much rather take in the sights and festivities while sitting on the couch and watching it happen in Boston with the Boston Pops playing in the background. There's always next year and maybe we will have pictures next year.
Sunday brought about the dreaded song - On the Road Again, Just can't wait to get on the Road Again! It was time to say goodbye to Poppy and Granny T and all that the farm life brings about (tractors, horses, mud and cows!) We did stop in Lubbock along the way to grab some yummy Rosa's (OMG good stuff!!) and while getting gas we witnessed a non-injury car accident which was great since Evan got see lots of firetrucks. Yep, nothing like two women racing a yellow light in Lubbock to bring on a fender bender - it's a sport there I promise, just ask grandpa Tom about his first yellow light race (he-he)
Well that's enough for now as words tend to get boring and a write I am not. The kids are napping, but not for long so back to laundry we go. Dont' worry though, this will be updated very soon with some good pictures as the camera is charging as we speak and these kids are always entertaining. Until then, as Evan would say - "see you in the mornin'!"
